So far, all 167 tunnels of the China-Laos Railway have been drilled, securing a solid foundation for opening to traffic of the cross-border railway by the end of this year in light of the schedule.
“At present, the China section of the China-Laos Railway project is progressing smoothly. The construction of subgrades and bridges has all been completed. Currently the decoration work of all 11 station buildings is underway. The track laying is 95 percent completed,” said Ma Youliang, deputy commander of Southern Yunnan Railway Construction Headquarters.
The China-Laos railway stretches more than 1,000 kilometers from Kunming, capital of China’s Yunnan Province, to Vientiane of Laos. Upon completion, it will slash the travel time between the two cities to less than one day, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
